Let Mondobyte help you secure and protect your
data, network, computers, and productivity:
- Threats and attacks from the Internet such as DOS (Denial of Service), email content (virus, worm,
inappropriate content,
spyware), web content, spyware, malware, trojans - the threats are endless and the
damage can be very costly. A case in point - A workstation becomes infected with
a mass mailing trojan. The company becomes known as a source of SPAM and becomes
listed on numerous black lists. (DNSRBL's). Within a brief time, nearly all email
is refused from vendors and customers alike as SPAM. Commerce grinds to a halt.
Customers and vendors alike are unhappy. Unhappy means lost sales. Couple that with
the cost of cleaning up the workstation, persuading the DNSRBL's that your company
is not a SPAMMER (takes a lot of time, patience, and proof) and the
cost mushrooms very quickly.
-
Threats from computer hardware such as critical computer failures (cash registers, servers, key workstations),
network failures (routers, switches), capacity problems, network cabling failures
and hard drive failures to name a few. A day without working cash registers could
be very expensive. A day without access to key files and data on a server can be
devastating.
- Threats from the environment such as power failures, lightning, tornado, storms, flood, wind, fire and
hazardous materials spills. Any one of these can leave your data or infrasture inaccessible
or damaged. Your business grinds to a halt.
-
Threats from employees such as simple errors or malicious activites. Lost or compromised data is a concern of any business.
- Threats from software such as patches, updates or security flaws. Any or all of these can lead to lost or compromised
data or unusable computers. A simple, seemingly unrelated, minor update from any software vendor can cause disruptions to your business.
- Outdated software or hardware that is no longer supported by the vendor. What happens when the software
that you depend upon quits and it is no longer supported? It is better to plan upgrades to newer (supported) software and implement
those upgrades seamlessly rather than wait until you have no other choice and the return to normal operations is murky and uncertain.
- "I am not a target!" - every client believes that they are not a target. As soon as a company connects
to the Internet, "unfriendly" packets begin arriving in less than a minute or two.
If you have a connection to the Internet, you are a target.
- Threats in the form of legal issues. (Acceptible Use Policy, Non-Disclosure, Non-Compete, Content Filtering).
Countering litigation before it occurs is always the best policy. Those "cute" jokes
that get passed around by email are fine until an employee complains that they are
resulting in a "hostile workplace". Waiting for the compaint may not avoid legal
action. That employee that browses to inappropriate content may also be creating
a "hostile workplace" for others. Having documented policies in place and implementing
appropriate content filtering (and notification of attempts by employees with appropriate
action) can prevent or significantly reduce your risk of successful litigation.
